Hipswell Remembers

Hipswell Remembers

On Friday 6th November the pupils Of Hipswell Church of England Primary School took part in a whole school Act of Worship via zoom. Mr. Sykes broadcasted live from the Year 3 classroom and from the school memorial garden. Mr. Kane, helped by two pupils, lay the special wreath of poppies to remember all the soldiers who lost their lives during the First World War and other times of conflict. The children learnt that the poppy is a symbol of both remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.

On Wednesday 11th November, the Year 6 and Year 4 pupils walked to the camp centre roundabout to look at the remembrance display before taking part in the two minutes silence at 11am.

Art work created by the Year 4 class looked fabulous.

The children in the Reception class created a wonderful poppy garden in remembrance of all the soldiers who sadly lost their lives fighting for their country. Some of their pupils held their two minute silence at 11 O’clock on the 11th day of the 11th month in front of their garden.
